The first literary society at Albany College was a men's organization called Sigma Phi organized in the fall of 1867. Sigma Phi had the responsibility of managing the College's library, which was donated to the College by the city of Albany's Library and Literary Institute. Wallace Howe Lee was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1861. In 1886 he earned a bachelor's degree from Williams College. After graduating, he was hired by Albany College to teach ancient languages and music. Lee became an integral part of the Albany community, and in 1895 he was hired as president of the College. In 1905 Lee took a job as assistant pastor and educational director of Seattle's First Presbyterian Church, and as Dean of Whitworth College in Tacoma. In 1911 he returned to ...
